With an annual average temperature of more than 21 degrees, Gran Canaria makes for a dependable golf destination – and with eight courses dotted around the island, there are challenges suited to everyone looking to improve their game. All of Gran Canaria's courses are situated in sunny locations, so choose a course close to the sea if you would like to catch a refreshing ocean breeze. Gran Canaria also offers loads of sightseeing, with the capital, Las Palmas, as the top choice with many major attractions. One must-see highlight is the Santa Ana cathedral, found in the heart of the Vegueta quarter – a fascinating building with two towers and also the home of the Museo Diocesano de Arte Sacra (The Sacred Art Museum), which displays numerous valuable artefacts, important paintings by the great Dutch masters, and a varied collection of Spanish sculpture collected over the past four centuries. Gran Canaria also offers a wide variety of good hotels at very reasonable prices -- a double room in a three-star hotel can be had for 50 Euros and up.
