Corporate social responsibility
Cimber Sterling’s vision of being the leading airline in Denmark commits the company and each of our employees to do the right thing at all times in respect of our customers and the environment.
With this CSR policy, Cimber Sterling wishes to express the responsibility that comes with being part of our society and being the employer of so many skilled employees, while at the same time operating a business that delivers a product which creates value for our customers.
We wish Cimber Sterling’s customers and business partners to experience a good ambience through our due care and attention. There should be a reasonable balance between the price and the product delivered and also, we should provide flexible options to make travelling as easy as possible for our customers. At Cimber Sterling, we strive for mutual loyalty by delivering the promised product and by the customers experiencing a product that respects their requirements. We have respect for our customers' time and the fact that the journey is not the aim itself, the aim is a holiday experience with the family, a meeting with an important client or new impulses from a weekend stay in an exiting major city.
By focusing on the customer, we collaborate every day across the organisation to deliver a product reflecting that each employee is committed to meeting our customers' and business partners' requirements. We see problems as a development opportunity and learn from them. We recognise that time is important to our customers and to us, with due respect for the quality of the product we deliver.
At Cimber Sterling, we set new targets all the time – also within CSR. We are currently working to identify the areas in which our company can make the best contribution to the CSR area.
Cimber Sterling as part of the community
Cimber Sterling’s green profile
Cimber Sterling is aware of its responsibility when it comes to the environmental impact of flying and we are committed to a clearly defined procedure to reduce the negative effects that result from our operations. It is crucial to us that any business expansion we carry out is made with due respect for the related environmental impact. It is very important to us that our growth is responsible and that we can be accountable for it. We are accountable now – and we will continue to be in the future.
As Denmark’s largest and most frequent operator of domestic flights, we make targeted efforts to reduce our fuel consumption through a fuel-saving programme that is integrated in our organisation. We recognise that the environment is a common, cross-border task and for this reason, our international flights are also part of our fuel-saving programme. Hence, we aim to plan our flights in consideration of the lowest possible fuel consumption.
Supplier requirements – mutual focus on quality
Cimber Sterling has a wide range of suppliers which have all been selected on the basis of their skills. Confidence is good but we think follow-up is better – and for this reason we apply many resources on auditing the suppliers providing us with flight-related services. We follow a procedure that has been approved by the authorities when we audit the various sub-suppliers which are to support safety and security at all times in connection with our flights. Ultimately, a supplier that does not meet our requirements will be deselected. For this reason, we maintain an ongoing dialogue with suppliers and we focus on always creating the optimum atmosphere to the benefit of our suppliers and to ourselves, and most importantly, the professional handling benefits our customers – which means the world to us, because good service is our second nature!
Sponsorships with common sense
Cimber Sterling wants to be involved in sports activities that enjoy broad public support. In other words; we give and get something in return – to us that is common sense! It is no secret that our sponsorships are to some degree based on business considerations because we want to profile our company in order to achieve a higher rate of recognition but they are also based on our wish to spotlight issues that we think are important to non-elite sports on a local, as well as a national level.
Safety and quality at Cimber Sterling
At Cimber Sterling we use the notion of ‘right of way’. This means that we must give way to and recognise various factors relating to security, safety and quality, which must take priority above other factors. This is beyond discussion.
Flight Safety
Flight safety takes priority over anything we do in our day-to-day operations. This applies to an aircraft’s condition, and we have procedures to ensure that equipment used onboard and spare parts that are installed in the aircraft comply with requirements and not least that our staff is fully qualified in accordance with applicable law. Furthermore, to ensure a continuous overall improvement of safety all employees are obliged to report any deviation from any standard. In other words; we prioritise flight safety above anything else.
Systematic training of airborne crew and mechanics
We train and test our airborne crew and mechanics continuously to make sure that they are always updated on their functions. We have clearly defined frameworks for their continuous training. It is important to us that our employees' skills are continuously developed to ensure that our customers are served on the basis of the latest knowledge. Hence, it is crucial to us that we ensure high standards at all times.
Cimber Sterling as a workplace
Employee welfare and development are the cornerstones of Cimber Sterling’s HR policy. Cimber Sterling aims to be an attractive workplace and seeks to attract the skills and personalities who want to join us in our pursuit to become Denmark's leading airline.

Absence due to sickness concerns us all! For this reason, we focus on sickness absence at Cimber Sterling and try to reduce absence through active and persistent efforts. Sickness absence is a permanent focus area at Cimber Sterling. We want to make sure that the working environment does not induce sickness and for this reason, we conduct follow-up interviews as part of our targeted efforts to reduce absence related to sickness.
At Cimber Sterling we also strive to create a good balance between work life and private life. It is particularly important to us that we as human beings are able to cope with everyday stress, both professionally and in our private lives. We aim to prevent stress and offer tools to handle stress in the best possible way. This way, we hope to be known for our commitment, joy of work, low sickness absence, efficiency, good service and high performance.
We make it possible for our employees to take out health insurance that provides fast access to professional treatment. A fast return is to the benefit of the employee, Cimber Sterling, and also to society in general.
Influence at work
Cimber Sterling wants its employees to influence their own lives – in order to create ownership but also because we want to listen to the people who perform the job every day. For this reason, we have set up a number of work scheduling committees to ensure proximity and closeness between employees and management.
At Cimber Sterling, we communicate openly with our employees. We seek active knowledge-sharing and dialogue, among other things through an intranet which can be accessed by all employees.
